My ceramic and metalwork begins with unconventional materials such as latex embedded with chia or wheatgrass seeds. By incorporating home-grown elements, I’m able to capture nature in a state of growth and transformation. This ephemeral vitality is then arrested through processes such as the application of porcelain slip followed by firing, which burns away the organic matter to reveal a delicate ceramic shell, or through electroforming, which encapsulates the form in copper, preserving its intricate structure and natural beauty. Copper leaf is often used to embellish the work, creating a visual and conceptual link to my practice in contemporary jewellery.
